The new way for athletes to fundraise — recurring backing, not one-off campaigns

Most athletes have run some version of the same fundraiser: a GoFundMe before a big trip, a raffle at the club, a "help me get to nationals" post shared to everyone they've ever met. It works — once. Then the money runs out, the trip ends, and you're back to square one for the next campaign.

ralli is built for a different model: recurring community backing that funds an athletic career the way people actually want to give — a little bit, consistently, from lots of people who care. All amounts below are in USD.

Why one-off campaigns burn athletes out

Traditional athlete fundraising is campaign-shaped: a start date, an end date, a target, and a lot of asking. That works for a single event, but athletic careers aren't single events — they're 5, 10, sometimes 15-year climbs.

  • The "ask fatigue" problem — you can only tap the same network so many times before it dries up.
  • The admin problem — writing campaign copy, chasing donors, managing receipts eats hours that should be training hours.
  • The gap problem — the moment the campaign ends, funding drops to zero. Coaching, travel and gear costs don't.
  • The story problem — donors give once and never hear from you again, so they don't give again next time.

What "recurring backing" changes

On ralli, supporters don't donate once. They back you monthly across four tiers — $25, $49, $99 or $249 USD/month. The blended average across all tiers is $49 USD/month per supporter. That single shift changes almost everything about how you fund your career.

You get predictable income, not lumpy windfalls

Using the blended average of $49 USD/month per supporter, 10 supporters = $490 USD/month gross. 70% of every credit lands in your athlete wallet (1 credit = $0.70 USD) — that's $343 USD/month ($4,116 USD/year) you can plan a year in advance instead of quarter to quarter. Get to 25 supporters and it's $857.50 USD/month ($10,290 USD/year) in your wallet — before brand partnerships kick in.

You stop selling every month

The backing is already flowing. You focus on training and content, not on writing the next fundraiser post. Your job becomes updating your community, not convincing them.

Your backers stay engaged

They earn ralli Rewards™ points every month and every time you hit a verified milestone — redeemable in the Vault for premium merch, memorabilia and VIP events. They're rewarded for sticking with you, so they do.

Milestones become fundraising events

Every time you tick off a verified milestone — a PB, a national selection, a title, a podium — your backers receive a burst of ralli Rewards™ points from the Rewards pool. You don't pocket the milestone itself; your backers do. That's what keeps them engaged, sharing, and renewing month after month. Read the full mechanics in Milestones & ARP explained.

How the ralli model actually works

  1. Apply at /apply — takes about 5-10 minutes. Reviewed within 12 hours.
  2. Get approved — we verify sport, level and identity so backers can trust the platform.
  3. Invite your existing community first — family, coaches, club, alumni, sponsors. These are your founding backers.
  4. Grow it — as you post updates and hit milestones, discovery on ralli and social sharing brings in backers you don't know yet.
  5. Get paid70% of every credit lands in your wallet (1 credit = $0.70 USD), with payouts inside 5 days of the backing coming in.

The remaining 30% funds the Rewards pool your backers earn from (10%) and keeps the platform running and recruiting new backers (20%). Full breakdown on our transparency page.

How much can you realistically earn?

There's no cap and no guarantee, but the maths are simple. Using the blended $49 USD/month average across tiers, with 70% landing in your wallet:

  • 5 supporters → $171.50 USD/month → $2,058 USD/year in your wallet
  • 10 supporters → $343 USD/month → $4,116 USD/year in your wallet
  • 15 supporters → $514.50 USD/month → $6,175 USD/year
  • 20 supporters → $686 USD/month → $8,232 USD/year
  • 25 supporters → $857.50 USD/month → $10,290 USD/year

And that's before brand partnerships kick in. For a full breakdown by athlete level (including guest one-off gifts), read What can I earn as a ralli athlete?

What that actually funds

Dollars in a spreadsheet don't mean much. Here's what your backing stack could realistically cover in a year:

  • $2,050 USD/yr (≈ 5 supporters) — a full season of gear, shoes and training kit.
  • $4,116 USD/yr (≈ 10 supporters) — a year of weekly coaching sessions.
  • $6,175 USD/yr (≈ 15 supporters) — travel + accommodation to compete at nationals.
  • $8,232 USD/yr (≈ 20 supporters) — a full off-season training block, including gym membership and physio.
  • $10,290 USD/yr (≈ 25 supporters) — the difference between training around a job and training full-time.

Your income stack, not one line item

Most athletes get pinned to a single funding source — a grant, a parent, one sponsor. On ralli, three streams compound in the same wallet:

  1. Recurring monthly backing — the base layer, paid every month.
  2. Milestone moments — verified milestones reward your backers with ralli Rewards™ points, keeping them engaged and renewing (the real fundraising lever isn't a bonus to you, it's retention of the backers already paying you monthly).
  3. Brand partnerships — tiered, athlete-approved deals from $500 USD to $5,000+ USD that stack on top of your monthly backing without touching your existing sponsors.

The compounding effect is the point. A 10-backer base ($4,116/yr) plus one Grassroots brand partnership ($350+/month in your wallet) can push a year past $8,000 without adding a single new monthly backer — and milestones you hit along the way keep those backers engaged and renewing.

Brand partnerships stack on top

Once you're on ralli with a live community, brands can back you too — under a structured tiered model that protects your existing sponsorships. Grassroots ($500 USD lump / 2 months at $250 USD), National ($2,000 USD / 4 months at $500 USD) and Elite ($5,000 USD / 5 months at $1,000 USD). You approve every partnership before any logo goes on your profile, so nothing conflicts with deals you already have.

What you commit in return

Not much, honestly. Ongoing backing requires ongoing storytelling — but "ongoing" here means about 5 minutes a week: a photo, a short update, a milestone submission when you hit one. That's it. The platform handles receipts, payouts, financial reporting, milestone verification, backer comms and Rewards.

Who this is built for

  • Emerging athletes who are already grinding but can't attract brand sponsors yet.
  • National-level athletes who need consistent monthly income to bridge to elite level.
  • Elite athletes who want to diversify away from a single sponsor or governing-body funding.
  • Under-18 athletes — via a guardian account with full parental controls (details here).

Ready to switch to recurring?

If you're still running your funding through campaigns, DMs and family loans — there's a better way. Apply once, set up your profile, invite your existing community, and let the platform do the recurring work in the background.
